Sonnen Responds To NSAC Suspension, Says He’s Definitely Done Fighting

By BJPENN.COM News - June 19, 2014

Yesterday the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen following a failed drug test for banned substances.

Sonnen had already retired from competition, so the suspension is of no real consequence, however, he still took to his day job at UFC Tonight to react to the news.

“I’m retired. But there is a protocol that they have to go through, and they will have a hearing that I’ll show up for. I won’t defend myself, but I will have a conversation on the topic and on the record and we’ll do that in about a month.”

Chael also confirmed, for skeptics, that he won’t be returning, “I don’t think so. I hope not. I’m most definitely retired. As fighters, we tend to stay in the sport a little too long. It’s fun, it’s seductive and it’s all we know, but I’m done.”
