The results from Chael Sonnen’s most recent NSAC drug test are finally in from earlier this month, and it shows Sonnen is positive for four different banned substances.
The blood and urine tests, which were administered on June 5th in preparation for his scheduled July 5th bout, showed the presence of human growth hormone (HGH), recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO), which is typically used to boost red blood cells, and thus increase stamina and endurance, anastrozole, and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the female fertility drug that is often used in an effort to restart testosterone production.
The commission showed the results to Sonnen and the UFC earlier this week.
Chael was contacted by MMAFighting.com to talk about these most recent findings:
“Yes, the Commission is aware of other prescribed medications I was taking and I will not challenge their allegations. I will cooperate with the Commission and look forward to having a dialogue about how fighters who transition off TRT can avoid violating any rules.”
NAC Chairman Francisco Aguilar said that Sonnen’s case has now been amended to include these most recent results, and he will be on the next NAC meeting agenda, set for July 23.Tags: Chael Sonnen, ufc
