Siyar Bahadurzada Out, Bobby Voelker In Against Robbie Lawler at UFC on FOX 8

By bjpenndotcom - July 11, 2013

In a piece of potentially upsetting news for fight fans, Siyar Bahadurzada has been injured and forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated bout with Robbie Lawler in a fight that would prompted an obligatory ‘don’t blink’ from UFC color commentators.

But, the UFC has done well to keep the fireworks a very likely happening.

Now, recent Strikeforce import, Bobby Voelker (24-9) will step in to fight fellow former Strikeforce welterweight, Robbie Lawler as the 0-1 UFC welterweight will seek the biggest win of his career. Voelker has 19 finishes out of his 24 career wins. Voelker is coming off of a UFC 158 loss to Patrick Cote via unanimous decision.

For Lawler, a UFC 157 TKO win over perennial top-10 welterweight, Josh Koscheck marked his first fight back in the UFC since UFC 50 in 2004 when he lost to former middleweight champion, Evan Tanner.

UFC Tonight broke the news via their official Twitter account Thursday:

The two will now face off on July 27th on the UFC on FOX 8 card on the main card. IFC on FOX 8 takes place at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.
