Sergio Pettis vs. Yaotzin Meza set for ‘UFC Fight Night 43’ in Albuquerque

By Chris Taylor - March 26, 2014

UFC officials announced today that a bantamweight bout between Sergio Pettis (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Yaotzin Meza (20-9 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is the latest addition to June’s ‘UFC Fight Night 43’ event in Albuquerque.

After opening his professional mixed martial arts career with 10-straight victories, 20 year-old Sergio Pettis suffered his first ever setback at January’s UFC on FOX 10 event, when he was submitted by Alex Caceres. The former flyweight fighter, who is the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, will be looking to bounce-back in to the win column when he faces Meza this June.

Meanwhile, 33 year-old Yaotzin Meza has alternated between wins and losses as of late. Meza was last seen in action at January’s UFC on FOX event, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Chico Camus. Prior to the loss, Meza was coming off a submission win over John Albert, which he earned in his bantamweight debut at UFC on FOX 8 in Seattle.

The ‘UFC Fight Night 43’ event takes place place June 7 live from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque. The event is headlined by a lightweight fight featuring former champion Benson Henderson taking on Russian standout Rustam Khabilov.
