Scott Coker Wants Bellator To Be Like Pride –– But Better!

By BJPENN.COM News - September 17, 2015

Bellator MMA president Scott Coker just wants his promotion to be better than Pride FC, is that too much to ask?

Bellator CEO Scott Coker talks Reebok

Coker spoke with media earlier this week, ahead of this Saturday’s ‘Dynamite’ event. When asked about his plans and expectations for the future of Bellator, he said simply:

“I want it to be like Pride, only better.”

Pride FC was of course all the rage back in the day. The Japanese promotion was the leader of MMA before an organized crime scandal basically brought it tumbling down. That and the rising popularity of the UFC here in the states.

Coker also talked about the ‘Dynamite’ format and said it’s something he plans on putting on every year.

“That’s the goal. The tentpole events are a massive jump from the shows Bellator was creating a year ago. This is to be a once-a-year extravaganza with kickboxing and MMA. This will take Bellator’s production, viewership and attendance hopefully to a different level.”
