Rousey: Honored to Fight Carano but Would Like to Prove Match with Cyborg Greatest in History

Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is scheduled to defend her title opposite Sarah Kaufmann taking place Aug. 18, 2012 from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.  In addition, Rousey welcomes future fights with both Gina Carano and Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos.

“I would like to fight both of them.”

“I would say I would equally like to fight both of them, but I strongly dislike Cris ‘Cyborg’ whereas, I really like Gina Carano.

If I was to pick which one I would actually want to beat up, I would want to beat up Cris ‘Cyborg’ the most, whereas I would just want to win over Gina.”

Carano is currently focused on a developing film career hasn’t competed since her loss to Santos Aug. 2009.  Hearsay of Carano coming back to fight leads Rousey to say she would be honored to oppose her.

“Gina is a cool chick, I have so much respect for her.”

Strikeforce officials begun to consider the possibility of a Santos vs. Rousey match up before ‘Cyborg’ was stripped of the title with a year suspension.  Meanwhile, Rousey, who began her career at 145 lbs, has since dropped to bantamweight. No word from Cyborg if she’s willing to drop to 135lbs to make this fight happen but that doesn’t stop the two from throwing verbal jabs at each other.

Rousey welcomes what would likely prove the greatest grudge match in female-fighting history, but she doesn’t believe emotion would affect her performance.

“It doesn’t really matter to me whether or not I don’t like the person.

I always fight the same way. I’m completely emotionless in there, and I fight as if my little sister’s life depends on it.”

And for this Saturday’s fight Rousey says

“I always treat it like that no matter who it is, so it doesn’t matter if Sarah brought me ice cream with sprinkles before the fight or she slapped me in the face.

I’m still going to fight her the same way.”
