Rousey disappointed in Tate’s loss, but thinks rematch is destined

The UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey says she was disappointed that Tate lost to Zingano but feels a rematch with her is inevitable at some point. When Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano battled it out a few weeks ago for the right to coach on TUF 18 against Rousey, the two did not disappoint.

The stakes were high and the two female combatants laid it all on the line in an epic back and forth battle. Cat went on to comeback from taking a beating for the first two rounds, to then dominate the third and the ref was forced to step in and stop the fight, raising Zingano’s hand and ultimately landing Zingano in the number one contender spot to face Rousey.

If the UFC could write a script that played out perfect for them then Tate would have won the fight and been able to fight against her rival Ronda Rousey. It’s no secret that Tate and Rousey have some hostility and it would have been a perfect set-up for the TUF 18 coaches to go at it during the show and eventually fight for the title. Well this isn’t scripted and Cat Zingano went out and showed she was the better fighter on that night.

Immediately following the Tate and Zigano fight Rousey spoke about how she felt about the fight, and how Tate was dominating until the end of the second round where Zingano took over.

“I was a little disappointed to be honest but Cat is an amazing fighter and she did a great job.” Said Rousey “I don’t want to take anything away from her. It was one of those fights. I thought that Miesha was doing really well but it ended up in Cat’s favor. All respect to her. She deserves to be the coach, and I can’t wait to fight her.”

As to whether Rousey thinks the fans will get to see her and Tate in the octagon against each other, she had this to say.

“I think because of the demand it’s going to end up happening anyway. So many people want to see that fight again. A lot of people keep telling me that was their favorite fight. And just me and Miesha personally, I think we just like fighting each other because we don’t like each other very much. It’s bound to happen just because the demand is there.”
