Ronda Rousey opens up on rematch with Holly Holm

By Russell Ess - December 8, 2015

UFC President has confirmed that a rematch between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm and former champion Ronda Rousey will take place. Many fans feel Rousey was so outclassed in their first fight that she does not deserve a rematch. Fellow fighters have opined that Rousey should take more time to hone her skills before taking on Holm again head to head.

Ronda Rousey’s competitive nature has her feeling otherwise as she revealed to ESPN the Magazine her urge to have to beat the opponent that toppled her from the throne as UFC champion.

“I need to come back. I need to beat this chick. Who knows if I’m going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open. I have to fucking do it.”

While still recovering from the blows served by Holm, Rousey says that she still cannot get back to MMA training.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” she says.

Before the outcome of UFC 193, Rousey stated that she would be taking a vacation from fighting and would ideally like to fight again at UFC 200 in July 2016. She again reiterated the break with her first statement after losing. With the layoff needed for recovering from her fight with Holm, one has to wonder if Holm will be forced by the UFC to wait for Rousey, or if she will be able to defend her belt and keep an active fighting schedule with opponents that are ready to step into the Octagon.
