RECAP! The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber Ep. 1

By bjpenndotcom - September 9, 2015

The time has finally come. The new season of The Ultimate Fighter premiered tonight on Fox Sports 1 and boy did it start with a bang.

Right at the start we got an interesting intro. It showed a bunch of the American fighters talking about how America is the best at MMA and European fighters are light-years behind them.

Then we got the European fighters explaining how American fighters just don’t understand.

Really intriguing stuff.

We got introduced to the rules, by Dana White, explaining how the teams will work. Then the McGregor show started, sort of. We got to hear from both coaches, who delivered some harmless trash talk to one another. Then the fights to get into the house started.

  • USA- Ryan Hall wins via submission (leg lock)
  • EUR- David Teymur wins via majority decision
  • USA- Thanh Le wins via KO
  • EUR- Mehdi Baghdad wins via majority decision (he beat McGregor’s teammate)
  • USA- Julian Erosa wins via unanimous decision
  • EUR- Saul Rodgers wins via unanimous decision
  • USA- Billy Quarantillo wins via TKO
  • EUR- Frantz Slioa wins via submission (RNC)
  • USA- Jason Gonzalez wins via TKO
  • EUR- Abner Lloveras wins via submission (guillotine)
  • USA- Tom Gallicchio wins vis submission (RNC)
  • EUR- Martin Svensson wins via unanimous decision
  • EUR- Marcin Wrzosek wins via submission (RNC)
  • EUR- Sascha Sharma wins via unanimous decision
  • USA- Chris Gruetzemacher wins via TKO
  • USA- James Jenkins wins by unanimous decision

Throughout all of the fights we got some pretty entertaining banter from the coaches, including McGregor telling Faber he should grab and card and go act as a ring card girl, shaking his chin everywhere.

Faber kept telling McGregor he had a cantaloupe head.

McGregor says, after the fights, that he doesn’t have any kind of emotional connection to his team, he’s just here to handle business. The teams were not picked by the coaches this time.

Team USA got the first fight pick.
