Pettis Opts For Surgery In Downtime, Out For 8 Weeks

Rising UFC lightweight fighter Anthony Pettis has reportedly scheduled an appointment to go under the knife and fix an undisclosed issue that has been ailing him.

It is unknown what the cause for surgery is or what injury requires repair, but “UFC Tonight” guest analyst, Chael Sonnen broke the news last night during the FUEL TV broadcast.

“To bring you up to speed, Mr. Pettis is going to go in for some surgery — he’s going to be out for about eight weeks. He’s going to make a comeback and it will be at 155,” said Sonnen.

Anthony Pettis came eerily close to getting a title shot against newly crowned champion Benson Henderson after knocking out Joe Lauzon in the first round at UFC 144. However the UFC granted a begging Frankie Edgar’s wish for a rematch, which forced the Roufus Sports fighter on the sidelines without an opponent.

With no opponent named and no return date I place, Pettis thought it wise to handle the injury in his off time.
