Pettis on Aldo: “Of course I want that fight!”

By Chris Taylor - February 3, 2014

In a recent interview with MMAJunkie, UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis was asked about his thoughts on a potential fight with longtime featherweight title holder Jose Aldo, his reply:

“Of course I want that fight, Why wouldn’t I?”

Pettis has been sidelined with a knee injury ever since his first-round submission victory over Benson Henderson at UFC 164, which earned him the UFC lightweight belt.

“Showtime” hopes to be ready to fight by July and believes a bout with Aldo is the only fight that really ‘makes sense’:

“Who else is there?” Pettis replied. “Benson Henderson just beat Thomson, who was supposed to be the top contender. Gilbert Melendez has already had his title shot. So why not (Aldo)?

Is the ‘Aldo fight’ the only bout that makes sense for Pettis’ return?  Sound off Penn Nation!
