Pettis: ‘I know what Thomson brings to the fight’

By BJPENN.COM News - September 17, 2013

Last night we learned that top lightweight contender T.J. Grant was forced out of his second scheduled title shot with an injury.

This revelation lead to a new title fight being booked between newly crowned champion, Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson.

Through his Jiu Jitsu coach, Diego Moraes, the UFC champ released the following statement to MMAFighting.com:

“I already expected that Thomson would get the shot. “I know TJ would’ve been a tough fight, and I feel for him, but I will be prepared (for Thomson). It’s a different game, but he’s a striker so it’s a good match-up for us. We’ve trained jiu-jitsu together once in Hawaii, so I know what he can bring to the fight.”
