Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares in an interview with TATAME.
Palhares discusses the Belcher fight and reveals he was ill going into the bout.
“I could not do anything, I was too sick. I don’t really wanna talk about it so it doesn’t sound like an excuse and I’m not taking back his credits.”
Palhares however wont let the loss get to him and plans to use it as motivation for future.
“That’s only going to strengthen me and I’ll become a champion.”
In the fight Palhares insisted on going for a heel-hook and was not able to finish and was knocked out soon after. He explains why he was unable to finish the move.
“When you get it (the position), you gotta really get it. I tried to repeat it, but I was gassing off, I was not strong enough. It was not my day, literally. I was dead, I could not move”
Palhares comments on having learned from his mistake of competing when less than 100% and says he will never do it again.
“My plan now is to train and never step up on the ring like I did this time. I was trying to jump and scream to see if I had any energy left, but I couldn’t do it.”Tags: Alan Belcher, featured, middleweight, mma, MMA NEWS, Rousimar Palhares, ufc, ufc news
