On This Day: Conor McGregor begins climb to stardom after loss to Joseph Duffy

By Russell Ess - November 27, 2015

UFC interim featherweight champion has come a long way in just five years. On this day back in 2010, “The Notorious” fell at the hands of fellow Irishman Joseph Duffy at CWFC 39 (video here).

Since then, McGregor has gone on to win every bout he has entered. Most notably, McGregor won the interim featherweight championship belt at UFC 189 against Chad Mendes.

This coincidentally comes a day after the anniversary of Jose Aldo’s last loss, taking it back another 5 years prior to McGregor’s loss in 2010.

The two featherweight stars are set to unify the belts at UFC 194 on Dec. 12 in Las Vegas Nevada.
