NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer Believes There Is No Judging Problem In Nevada

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer has been under fire recently from MMA personalities such as referee John McCarthy and UFC President Dana White. After Georges St. Pierre’s controversial title victory over Johny Hendricks, which left White and many other media members fuming, Kizer still think there is no real issue with the state of judging in Nevada.

“I don’t see controversy in the GSP-Hendricks decision,” Kizer said. “The media seems split on who won. The LA times scored it for GSP. All seemed to agree that Hendricks won rounds two and four and that St. Pierre won three and five. The first round could have gone either way.”

Kizer added, “even if you disagreed with the scoring, how is that something to criticize the commission for?”

The issue at hand is that various scoring debacles have happened recently in the state of Nevada, including the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley fight, and the strange scoring in the Canelo Alvarez vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight.

The two judges that scored the fight 48-47 for St. Pierre were Tony Weeks and Sal D’Amato, two judges who Kizer said Marc Ratner and White told him “that they believe Sal D’Mato and Tony Weeks were two of the best judges, if not the best, in MMA. You can tell they feel that way by where the UFC has taken them.”

After the fight, White said “It’s absolutely, 100 percent incompetence, and it needs to stop. I’m f****** scared to come back here and [promote] fights. I’m afraid of this state.”

Kizer responded to White deciding not to come back to Nevada by stating “I don’t think it’s likely.”
