Noons vs. Sotiropoulos Latest Addition To UFC 166

By BJPENN.COM News - July 25, 2013

UFC 166 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked cards of the year and that was before this lightweight bout between K.J. Noons and George Sotiropoulos was announced.

UFC 166 is set to go down from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on October 19. In the main event a trilogy match between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos is set to determine who really is the most dangerous man on the planet.

In this latest booking, K.J. Noons will look to bounce back from a devastating 1-5 stretch that started with a decision loss to Nick Diaz as a welterweight for the Strikeforce title and has followed him through his UFC debut against Donald Cerrone where he notched a decision loss.

Sotiropoulos finds himself in similar shoes. The once top contender, who went on a massive 7-0 run to kick off his UFC career hasn’t had his hand raised since a 2010 victory over Joe Lauzon. Currently riding a three-fight losing streak the former TUF competitor and coach is in desperate need of a win to keep his position with the promotion intact.

With this latest booking the UFC 166 card now includes the following:

Champ Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos – for heavyweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Roy Nelson
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shawn Jordan
Hector Lombard vs. Nate Marquardt
Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez
Tim Boetsch vs. Luke Rockhold
K.J. Noons vs. George Sotiropoulos
Tony Ferguson vs. Mike Rio
