Nick Diaz took part in the “UFC 183” Conference Call on Thursday afternoon to hype his upcoming bout with Anderson Silva on January 31st. This will be the first time Diaz has stepped into the octagon for competition since October 2013 for the UFC Welterweight Championship.

Dana White previously stated that a title shot could be in Silva’s future if he emerges victorious on Super Bowl weekend, but did not mention if Diaz would get the same treatment. When asked if he would be interested in another shot at the title, Diaz was calm in his answer. Bloody Elbow’s Zane Simon transcribed the following:

“At this point in time, they’re gonna use me to fight the most important guys, because the big guys they got right now, they’re not shining very hard. If we make a deal for a fight, then I’ll fight. It’s not about fighting for a title. Now it’s just more about having the right fights, making the right deal. The guys that I’ve beat, they’re already the best there are.”
