Missed Weight, Shoved A Ref, Likely Getting In Big Trouble

By BJPENN.COM News - October 4, 2015

Francisco Trevino was already on the hot seat walking into the octagon due to the fact that he missed weight by over four pounds. Trevino tried to redeem himself with a victory over young up and comer Sage Northcutt, but that didn’t go exactly as planned.

Trevino got dropped and finishes in less than a minute at “UFC 192” and felt that Herb Dean’s stoppage came far too soon. An emotional Trevino shot to his feet and protested the stoppage, putting his hands on Dean and shoving him.

UFC official Dave Sholler commented on Trevino’s actions during the post fight press conference, and is under the impression Trevino will get punished.

“I have to say this again, unfortunately. Never is it acceptable to put your hands on any official, UFC staff member or anybody not actually associated with the action inside the Octagon other than your opponent,” Sholler said. “It’s unfortunate that it happened, I know he was frustrated that he missed weight and then obviously getting overwhelmed by Sage. The truth of the matter is that we will regroup on Monday as we always do on disciplinary type actions. But, it’s just completely unacceptable. And the commission, to your point, will also have a say in that.”
