Right around the corner from my hometown, Oakdale MMA’s Michael McDonald has had a meteoric rise to stardom over the last few years thanks to wins over Miguel Torres, Alex Soto and Edwin Figueroa, victories which led him to a title fight against Renan Barao at UFC on Fuel: Barao vs McDonald, a match-up in which he ended up on the losing end. Though only 22 years old, McDonald still stays true to his roots.
With all the fame and fortunes that a UFC fighter gains, McDonald has stayed abstinent for the last 3 and a half years. On UFC on FOX 9: Road to the Octagon, McDonald was featured on KMRQ Rock 96.7 radio show, where host Bueller questioned him on this choice.
“Do you cut sex out before a fight?”
“I’ve actually been abstinent from sex for about 3 and a half years now”.
“So he’s gonna kick some ass! This is why you’ve been on such a tear”!
“It’s very arguable”!
McDonalds next opponent will be in the Bantamweight division against WEC and UFC standout Urijah Faber. A victory over “The California Kid” could possibly be his biggest win. Faber is most recently coming of victories over Iuri Alcantara, Scott Jorgensen and Ivan Menjivar, wins that have placed him at the top of his division, a spot Faber has been use to for the majority of his career.
In April, “Mayday” racked up an impressive victory over Brad “One Punch” Pickett at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs Sonnen. With a win over Faber, will it be enough to earn him a title shot again?Tags: Alex Soto, Brad Pickett, Chael Sonnen, Edwin Figueroa, iuri alcantara, Ivan Menjivar, Michael McDonald, Miguel Torres, renan barao, scott jorgensen, Shogun Rua, UFC on FOX 9, Urijah Faber
