UFC officials announced Wednesday night that lightweight fighters, Michael Johnson and Gleison Tibau, are se to fight at UFC 168 in December.
Johnson (13-8) recently earned himself an upset by defeating Joe Lauzon in Lauzon’s hometown of Boston with a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 26. It was his first win in three fights, bringing his UFC record to 5-4. Johnson will look to keep this momentum going come December against Gleison Tibau.
Tibau (28-9) fought last at the end of August, winning a split decision over Jamie Varner. That fight marked his consecutive win since losing to Evan Dunham in February. With more wins than Johnson has fights, Tibau will likely look to utilize his experience in the cage to best “The Ultimate Fighter 12” runner-up.
Though both men do not live there, they will be fighting by way of Florida. Johnson trains out of the Blackzilian camp and Tibau American Top Team.
UFC 168 features two exciting rematch title bouts between middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, and Anderson Silva and women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, and Miesha Tate. The card will take place December 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
