Mayweather blasts De La Hoya with harsh comments

The beef between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya has just been escalated to an entirely new level.

Last month De La Hoya penned a lengthy letter to Mayweather in an issue of Playboy, stating that the world of boxing would be a better place in the wake of Money’s retirement.

That didn’t sit too well with Mayweather, who spoke to DJ Whoo Kid in an interview to discuss the situation.

“With Oscar De La Hoya, sometimes drugs, jealousy [make you do things]…drugs and jealousy. I wish him nothing but the best. I’m just saying the reason he could be going after me….could be because of the drugs, because of the jealousy. That comes with the territory. Jealousy comes with the territory. But my job is to stay focused, stay in my lane, and do what I do. That’s all I have to do.”

De La Hoya battled with substance abuse several years ago, but has since been clean, making Mayweather’s comments even more harsh.
