Mark Hunt’s climb to the top of the UFC’s heavyweight division is near its peak as the New Zealand fighter takes on the top-ranked contender in Junior Dos Santos tonight at UFC 160. For the “Super Samoan,” a victory tonight should naturally bring his career to its zenith, with a shot at the UFC heavyweight title.
In a recent pre-fight interview, Hunt (9-7) said of the potential title shot, “If I win Saturday, of course. If I win… If I beat Junior on the weekend, then of course I deserve the first spot.”
For Hunt’s motivation, UFC President Dana White has already announced that a KO victory over Dos Santos would certainly warrant an immediate title shot. If Hunt is able to pull that off tonight, he will have the comfort of watching his next opponent fight immediately afterward, as he would take on the winner of tonight’s main event between UFC champ Cain Velasquez and the challenger, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.Tags: antonio "bigfoot" silva, Antonio Silva, bigfoot silva, Cain Velasquez, Dana White, JDS, Junior Dos Santos, Mark Hunt, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, UFC 160, ufc news
