Lyoto Machida vs. Dan Henderson Being “Worked Out” Confirms UFC Boss | UFC NEWS

When Dan Henderson pulled out of his UFC 151 date with Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida, who earned a title shot with his first round KO over Ryan Bader, turned down a short-notice title shot at UFC 152, the UFC’s light-heavyweight division got shook up.

In came Vitor Belfort, a middleweight and former champion on three-weeks-notice, who lasted almost four-full rounds with the champion before an eventual submission that cost him the fight.

UFC president Dana White confirmed to reporters yesterday that the two men (Machida & Hendo) will now likely have to face each other in order to determine the new line towards the title.

“Machida will probably fight Dan (Henderson). Still working it all out,” said the UFC boss.

Dan Henderson originally earned his title shot in what is still considered one of the best fights in MMA history against “Shogun” Rua. However, with the injuries, turned down fights and cancelled events it looks like he must now prove himself once again as the rightful challenger to the Jones throne and face off with Machida.

No date or venue was given by the UFC President at the time of this report.
