Lyoto Machida recently went on Brazil’s MSN Esportes and had some less than nice words to say about his fellow Brazilian. Apparently, Belfort isn’t the clearest on his messages to the public, especially when it comes to subjects such as his faith. Don’t get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I’ll admit Vitor has said some wacky stuff in the past. But it seems that Machida is more concerned about Vitor’s comments regarding the two of them facing off than anything else.
“Vitor often contradicts himself,” said Machida to the Brazilian Press. “He loves to say it’s like Flamengo and Vasco (Brazilian soccer teams with big rivalry), but athletes have to go out to eat pizza after and such things … Then later he comes and says that we should not fight, sometimes it is difficult for the public to understand what he means.”
It’s true. No one is really sure what Vitor means. Albeit his message is more than clear once the door on that cage is locked. And in a sport like MMA does much more matter? Maybe these statements will spark a controversy among the two Brazilians and we can one day get a solid statement from “The Phenom”. Regardless, at least we know where Lyoto Machida stands in his opinion of Belfort.Tags: lyoto machida, Vitor Belfort
