Dana White and Joe Silva have evidently put in some hours over the weekend planning what the future of the UFC’s light heavyweight division will look like.

With the recent injury of Lil’ Nog, rumors were flying around that Lyoto Machida would replace him and fight Shogun Rua for a third time. After Chael Sonnen stepped up and offered his services as a replacement for Lil’ Nog, those rumors quickly fizzled and the bout between Sonnen and Rua is all but confirmed.

Lyoto Machida’s name is back in the headlines, though. This time, however, with a new opponent.

Phil Davis will be stepping into the octagon to face “The Dragon” at UFC 163, Portal Do Vale Tudo reports. Both fighters are riding a two-fight win streak, but this fight could have title implications for Lyoto Machida should he win.
