UFC President Dana White announced Saturday night the addition of a middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold and Constantinos Philippou to UFC Fight Night 35.
At the UFC 167 post-fight press conference, White announced this bout as the five-round headliner for the January 15 event at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.
Rockhold (10-2) will be making his second appearance in the UFC. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion made his debut in the UFC in May, when he suffered a knockout loss against Vitor Belfort.
Constantinos Philippou (12-3) is also coming off a recent loss. At UFC 165 in September, Philippou lost a unanimous decision to Francis Carmont. Prior to that bout, Philippou had gone on a 5-fight winning streak after dropping his UFC debut in March of 2011.
The UFC Fight Night 35 card now includes three fights: the main event between Philippou and Rockhold, a featherweight bout between Cole Miller and Sam Sicilia, and a bantamweight bout between T.J. Dillashaw and Mike Easton.Tags: constantinos philippou, costas philippou, Dana White, Luke Rockhold, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc fight night, UFC Fight Night 35, ufc news
