Luke Rockhold Feels Bad For The Lower Weight Classes

By BJPENN.COM News - September 12, 2015

Why doesn’t UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, who is one of the most dominant champions, grab the attention of viewers?

It’s a question that continues to be asked, especially following the poor numbers brought in for his recent outing, at UFC 191. There seem to be a lot of answers floating around out there, from ‘he’s too small, doesn’t have power,’ to ‘his attitude is boring.’

UFC middleweight Luke Rockhold recently spoke with Stephie Haynes of BloodyElbow and gave his answer for why fans aren’t as interested in the lighter weight classes.

Check it out!

“It’s tough for the little guys. I feel for them. I enjoy watching Demetrious Johnson fight. They’re just so small and so fast, I think the casuals have a hard time keeping up with everything that’s going down. They want the big, noisy, powerful punches and fights where you can hear the cage rocking and rattling throughout the whole contest.

“It’s tough, but if you’re loud enough and brash enough, you can be heard in those lighter weight classes. McGregor has proven that very well. It also helps to have an entire country behind you, too.”
