Kennedy vs. Romero Set For UFC 178

By BJPENN.COM News - July 8, 2014

Middleweights Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero will square off at UFC 178 in a match that will likely go to the ground given the elite wrestling background of both fighters.

Kennedy is 3-0 in the UFC, and is coming off a dominant performance against Michael Bisping at the TUF Nations Finale. Prior to that, Kennedy knocked out Rafael Natal, and defeated Roger Gracie. With a win over Romero, Kennedy will likely cement his place in the middleweight division’s top 5.

Yoel Romero on the other hand is 4-0 in his UFC career, the Olympic silver medalist is coming off a dominant win over Brad Tavares at UFC on Fox: Werdum vs. Browne. Prior to that Romero was on a tear, winning three fights in a row via KO/TKO. Derek Brunson, Ronny Markes, and Clifford Starks were all knocked out at the hands of Romero. With a win over Kennedy, Romero will likely crack the UFC’s top 10 in the middleweight division.
