Kennedy Thinks Zahabi, Not Greg Jackson, Is Making Fighters Boring

As a UFC and MMA fan, when I read articles or watch videos about certain fighters, I always notice that glowing in the comments sections, are the heavy criticisms about a certain fighters style. Since we are currently in the season of talking about GSP, he can be the first example. If you aren’t a fan of him, the first thing said is that he gives a boring performance. He has pretty much locked down the art of going the distance in fights, having done so in every fight since 2009, and while that is sometimes what makes a Fight of the Night, too many of those can become dull.
Well, Tim Kennedy had a few words to say to the fans and critics that were blaming Greg Jackson and his training for some fighter’s lackluster performances:

“Even when they said it, it was ridiculous. Totally unfounded. If you look at the past ten fights. The fighters that have won the “submission of the night”, the “knockout of the night”, and “fight of the night” bonuses are almost exclusively Jackson guys,” Kennedy said.
“In my last fight camp, it was me, Rustam (Khabilov), Adlan (Amagov), and (Donald) Cerrone, all in fight camp at the same time. All of us fighting three weeks apart and all of us had a ‘knockout of the night’ or ‘fight of the night.’ Then you look at Firas (Zahabi) and you look at Rory MacDonald.
“I remember when (MacDonald) fought Nate Diaz and it was extreme grappling, vicious strikes. That guy was scary. Now we’re two years removed from that fight and the transition is now a guy jabbing from the outside. Not even in volume. It’s just horrible. It’s so boring.”

For the sake of being fair, I feel that it’s hard to blame a single individual for the pace of the fight. I think that it’s a combination of the training that they receive, last-minute instructions being yelled from the corner, or just what the fighter himself feels he should do in that situation. But how do you feel? Is Zahabi the cause for long, uneventful rounds with his fighters or are there outside forces?
