A fight that was once scheduled and then canceled for Strikeforce will happen in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Julie Kedzie (16-11) will take on Germaine de Randamie (3-2) in a women’s bantamweight bout at UFC on Fox 8 at Key Arena in Seattle on July 27. UFC officials announced the fight yesterday at FOXsports.com. This will mark the debut for both fighters in the UFC.
Kedzie and de Randamie were lined up to fight in Strikeforce on Sept. 2011. Due to an injury, Kedzie had an injury and had to pull out of the fight.
Kedzie is coming off of a two-fight losing streak in Strikeforce. She lost to Miesha Tate via arm bar in the third round on August 18, 2012 at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman. She also lost to Alexis Davis in July 30, 2011 via unanimous decision at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson.
De Randamie has a 2-1 record in Strikeforce. She beat Hiroko Yamanaka via unanimous decision at the abovementioned Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman. Her loss came from Julia Budd via unanimous decision on June 24, 2011 at Strikeforce: Challengers 16.
UFC of Fox 8 has yet to land a main event, but is expected to showcase flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson versus John Moraga. The card will feature Rory MacDonald versus Jake Ellenberger and Robbie Lawler versus Tarec Saffiedine.
