Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira Set For UFC 172 In Baltimore

By BJPENN.COM News - January 10, 2014

After several failed booking attempts the return of Jon Jones is finally set in stone.

The UFC’s light-heavyweight champion will face off with his division’s top contender, Glover Teixeira, at UFC 172 on April 26.

The Baltimore Sun was the first to announce the news.

UFC 172 will go down from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on April 26. The Jones vs. Teixeira title bout will serve as the evening’s main event, live on pay-per-view.

Jones last saw action last year when he squared off with Alexander Gustafsson in the UFC 165 main event. Although many thought Gustafsson deserved victory, Jones was able to secure his title in route to his sixth straight title defense. The Gustafsson decision saw Jones beat out Tito Ortiz for the most title defenses in UFC light-heavyweight history.

Glover Teixeira has long been considered one of the world’s top fighters. Since entering the UFC in 2012 the Brazilian born fighter hasn’t lost. Now, with five straight UFC wins, Glover, has earned his shot at UFC gold.

No other bouts have been announced for this event. Stay tuned to BJPENN.COM for updates.
