Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva in the works for UFC 153 in Rio.

Ariel Helwani revealed via his official Twitter account that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.

Fitch is coming off a loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC 141 where he was knocked out in the first round. Prior to that bout Fitch fought to a majority draw against BJ Penn at UFC 127. Over the past two years Fitch has been plagued by injuries and was expected to face Aaron Simpson at UFC on Fuel TV: Munoz vs. Weidman but withdrew due to a knee injury.

Silva (14-2-1) is coming off an impressive victory over Charlie Brenneman at UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall. His only loss in the last six years was the questionable disqualification loss to Carlo Prater back at UFC 142.

Fitch will be desperate to get back to winning ways and register his first victory in over two years in hostile teritory against Silva in Brazil. On the other side of things Silva gets the chance to make a statement in the division by defeating former long time Welterweight number one contender.
