Former WEC and UFC fighter Jamie Varner has retired from the sport due to suffering too many concussions. According to Varner, who spoke on The MMA Hour, he’s suffered more that 30 concussions. With that discovery his doctor told him she should retire from the sport, so he did.

Check out what Varner had to say about not even knowing anything was wrong.

“I had no idea. I felt like I was in a perpetual state of just constant migraines. I knew it was from sparring, but I thought it was OK. I thought it was normal and that’s what we have to do as fighters, part of the cross that we bear is having headaches and being beat up because we’re fighters.”
