Earlier today, Jake Ellenberger made an announcement on his personal website, declaring that his next match-up would be against a man whom he was supposed to face at UFC Fight Night 34 – Tarec Saffiedine. However, just minutes after he made the announcement – *poof!* – it was gone.
MMAFighting.com is saying that Ellenberger confirmed to them that both fighters have verbally agreed to meet in Baltimore on April 26… so although the UFC has yet to make an official announcement, “The Juggernaut” feels like it’s all but set in stone.
Like I mentioned above, these two men were set to do battle once before, until a pulled hamstring sidelined him prior to their January 4th showdown in Singapore. Saffiedine was able to find a replacement opponent and made the most out of the situation, winning a unanimous decision against the “I should probably be at middleweight” Hyun Gyu Lim.
Ellenberger will be looking to bounce back from a loss to Rory MacDonald in his last UFC appearance.
Edit: Looks like the UFC just officially announced the fight, via their Twitter feed. Check it out:
