The Toyota Center in Houston will be swollen to capacity on Saturday night for UFC 166.
The event, which features the highly-anticipated third meeting between current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former champ Junior dos Santos, has already been declared a sellout by UFC officials.
When speaking with the media on Thursday, UFC Dana White said he expects a $2.5 million live gate on Saturday. Demand was so high the UFC removed the large video screens from the ends of the Toyota Center to free up more seating.
“No end screens, just the center hung (screens),” White said. “This place is going to be jam-packed wall to wall. We like Houston.”
Houston has always been big draw for the UFC.
In 2007, UFC 69: St. Pierre vs. Serra, pulled in 15,269 with a gate of $2.8 million. In 2011, the third meeting between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard at UFC 136 drew 16,164 with a $2.23 million gate.
