Holly Holm ‘fears everything’ about Ronda Rousey

By BJPENN.COM News - August 30, 2015

Holly Holm is nearly two months away from the biggest challenge of her professional fighting career and it sounds like she has an idea of what she is walking into. The two-fight veteran of the octagon will fly into Melbourne, Australia at UFC 193 to challenge Ronda Rousey for her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. The bookies were quick to label Holm as the heavy underdog, and she doesn’t blame them; She fears everything about “Rowdy”.

Ronda Rousey serious

“She’s got a well-rounded game. I’m not going in there thinking, ‘Oh, I only have to worry about— you know— grappling.’ I do know she has knockout power so I don’t feel like you guys are going to see what you’ve seen before with her,” Holm told Inside MMA earlier this week. “I fear everything about her. Standup, ground, clinch, all that. And I feel like that’s the way you need to be with any fighter.”

Most fighters fear something when stepping into the octagon, but Holm knows she has what it takes to dethrone Rousey of her spot as queen of the bantamweight division. “Everybody’s beatable. Is it going to be hard as heck? Absolutely,” Holm admitted. “It’s going to be the hardest fight of my career. I have to absolutely do everything right from the beginning to the end of the fight. Is it going to be easy? No, that is not what I’m saying. But I’m going in there to win and it’s very possible.”

Holm impressed in her first two fights with the UFC when she defeated Raquel Pennington and Marion Reneau by way of decision. She is currently riding a nine fight win streak and was picked over Miesha “Cupcake” Tate as the next challenger for the championship even though UFC President Dana White admitted Tate was likely to be next in line.

Who do you think deserved the title shot? Will Holm have a better chance at beating Rousey than Tate would have? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
