Heavyweight Title Fight Not Likely Until March

Fabricio Werdum

If you were hoping the rematch between UFC champion Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez would be taking place anytime soon then you’ll be greatly disappointed.

According to UFC president Dana White, who spoke at UFC 191’s post fight press conference on Saturday night, the fight probably won’t happen until March.

White said that that is the time Werdum wants to fight, so that’s when it will likely go down. The issue came up when White was asked about Andrei Arlovski possibly getting the next title shot.

Here’s what the UFC president said:

“Unfortunately this heavyweight division is tied up right now and the fight won’t happen probably until March, the next heavyweight fight. We’ll see how this thing plays out and we’ll go from there.”

Are you bummed that the heavyweight title isn’t defended as often as most of the other titles?
