A welterweight match-up in September’s UFC Fight Night 28 has seen a last-minute change as Ivan Jorge steps in for the injured Marcelo Guimaraes.
Guimaraes suffered an elbow injury, and will no longer be able to fight Keith Wisniewski on September 4, reported Brazilian media outlet Globo SporTV. In his place, Jungle Fight lightweight champion, Ivan Jorge, will move up to welterweight to face Wisniewski in what will be his UFC debut.
Jorge (24-3) comes into this fight with 6 consecutive wins, all six of which have been 1st or 2nd-round submissions. In fact, the Brazilian fighter’s last ten victories came via submission.
Wisniewski (28-14-1), on the other hand is coming off two straight losses in the UFC, bringing his record in the organization to 0-3. He had fought in the UFC once in 2005, losing a decision to Nick Thomson.
UFC Fight Night 28 will take place September 4 at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1, with the preliminary fights- which include Jorge vs. Wisniewski- airing on Facebook.Tags: jorge ivan, keith wisnieski, marcelo guimaraes, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, UFC Fight Night 28, ufc news, UFC on FOX Sports 1
