It was learned earlier today that Guillard bid adieu to his Florida-based team, the Blackzilians, and was expecting to rejoin his old gym, Team Jackson.
Apparently the folks in New Mexico nixed that decision by vote and Guillard is what you could call a free agent.
Now, MMAjunkie.com is reporting that, according to Bernalillo County (N.M.) court records, Guillard currently faces five charges: two misdemeanor counts of aggravated battery, to which he pled not guilty. Three misdemeanor counts of failure to appear in court were settled.
A jury trial on the assault charges is set for April 10, where he faces six months in jail for each count, in addition to fines and probation.
Guillard has gone 1-4 in his last five fights. One of the most explosive fighters in the division, he has 19 wins by KO, Guillard was considered one of the top contenders to the title after winning five straight fights from 2010-11.Tags: greg jackson, Melvin Guillard, MMA NEWS, ufc news
