Lightweight fighters Khabib Numagomedov and Gilbert Melendez are set to face one another at UFC 170 this February, according to a Russian MMA website, MMA Boxing.
Melendez (22-3) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Diego Sanchez in what is a likely candidate for fight of the year. The bout proved a successful rebound from Melendez’s first fight in the UFC, a close split decision loss to then-lightweight champion Benson Henderson.
Undefeated Russian fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov (21-0), has won all five of his fights inside the UFC. He most recently defeated Pat Healy at UFC 165 via unanimous decision, cementing his spot amongst the division’s top ten fighters in most MMA rankings.
UFC 170 will take place February 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.Tags: Gilbert Melendez, Khabib Nurmagomedov, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc 170, ufc news
