Georges St. Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks set for November 16 in Las Vegas

By Chris Taylor - June 19, 2013

The recently announced title fight between current UFC welterweight champion (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) Georges St. Pierre and number 1 contender Johny Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) now has a date.

According to a report by Ariel Helwani on Tuesday’s (June 18, 2013) edition of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV, the 170-pound title fight will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 16 and will likely serve as UFC 167.

A venue for the event has yet to be announced, but it will likely take place at either the MGM Grand Garden Arena or the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

St. Pierre made it 8-straight title defenses when he defeated Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 158 this past March in Montreal. “Rush” hasn’t lost a fight since 2007, when he was upset by Matt Serra at UFC 69, since then the French Canadian has gone 11-0 inside the octagon.

Meanwhile, Johny Hendricks also last fought at UFC 158, where he defeated former UFC interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit in a ‘fight of the night’ performance. “Big Rig” has now won 6-straight fights, including two first round KO victories over Jon Fitch and Matrin Kampmann respectively.
