Gastelum: ‘I Can Be Mediocre At Middleweight, Or Champ At 170’

Kelvin Gastelum

“I think I can either be a mediocre middleweight, or I can be the welterweight champion. And I want to be the welterweight champion.”

“I plan on going back (to welterweight) and getting in the boss’ good graces after this Saturday night. Honestly, I don’t think I can beat Weidman, or Rockhold or Jacare. Those guys are beasts.

“I think my skill level matches up pretty well with all of them. But I’m at a height disadvantage, a reach disadvantage, and a strength disadvantage.”

UFC middleweight Kelvin Gastelum wants back in the welterweight division, where he feels is his best chance to win a UFC title. The fighter told MMAJunkie that he just needs to win and get Dana White to allow him back down to 170, a division he was forced out of when he missed weight on several occasions.
