I’ve never really been a fan of most sports, or any really for that matter. Sure, I enjoy the occasional football or basketball highlight. I mean, those guys are without a doubt amazing! But, obviously, my heart lies with anyone who straps on some gloves and dukes it out. I love MMA and believe it is the purest sense of combat that we can have without letting the fighters kill each other.
With that being said, I f***ing love some hockey. It’s fast paced and exciting, but what draws me in more than anything is the fact that the players are so fully charged that a fight could literally break out at any moment! And it usually does! Granted the fights in hockey are no professional striking matches, but they are a rush to the senses none-the-less, and nothing (in my humble opinion) matches the excitement of two men standing toe to toe and trading blows.
There are few fights in MMA history that you could try to use as an example to explain a hockey fight to the uneducated MMA fan. However, the one that opitimizes such wars is the old classic Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama. If you have never seen this fight it is definitely a must see and is definitely the perfect example of a hockey style fight in MMA.
In the video above Jay Rosehill and Paul Bissonnette give a fantastic display of how a hockey fight should be! And in doing so definitely pay homage to the Frye and Takayama fight. Though a hockey fight may lack the technical prowess that is displayed inside the cage it can not be ignored that these two have huevos the size of those pucks and throw down as hard as the ice!Tags: free fight video, Hockey fights, Hockey MMA, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc news
