Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will look to get closer to another shot at the gold when he takes on fellow former champ Andrei Arlovski at UFC 191.

The two are on similar paths, coming back to the top of the division after dealing with stretches of losses and hard times.

It’s assumed that the winner tonight will be given the next heavyweight title shot, but of course, this is the UFC, so who knows.

However, if Mir wins his coach, Ricky Lundell, says that they will 100% be calling for that shot, whether it’s Fabricio Werdum or Cain Velasquez.

Here’s what he said at Thursday’s UFC 191 media day:

“One-hundred percent, we will be speaking about a title shot. It would be Cain Velasquez or Fabricio Werdum. Who doesn’t want to see Frank Mir against either one of them?

“We definitely want that fight and we’re going to go get it. We just have to get through this weekend.”

Do you think the winner of tonight’s fight should be given the next crack at the title?
