By Jamie McAllister:
A rumored welterweight fight between Jon Fitch and Aaron Simpson is in the works according to sources close to the UFC. The bout is tentatively slated to take place at UFC 149, July 21st in Calgary, Alberta.

This would be Aaron Simpsons 1st fight at welterweight, after compiling 6 wins with 3 loses in the UFC’s Middleweight division. His last fight was at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger, where he lost a close split decision to Ronny Markes. Simpson has yet to address why he decided to move down to the welterweight division.

Fitch on the other hand is coming off the first KO loss of his career at the hands of Johny Hendricks at UFC 141. Before his loss to Hendricks, Fitch had gone 5-0-1 in his last 6 bouts.

Both fighters are former NCAA division 1 wrestlers, so it will be interesting to see which man can take this fight to the mat first. There is a possibility that this fight could end up taking place on the feet, if they prove to negate each others wrestling abilities.

Another big question is how will the cut down to welterweight affect the A-Train, as he has fought at middleweight since 2008. Is this a fight your excited to see?
