Since UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre’s bizarre decision to walk away from the sport, rumors and assumptions have been flooding the MMA news cycle. Firas Zahabi, St. Pierre’s head coach and manager, went on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour to discuss the champion, and assured Helwani that St. Pierre was healthy.
“Georges’ health is fine, yes,” Zahabi said.
Zahabi would not comment on the issues that St. Pierre was dealing with, but did elaborate on St. Pierre’s mental state.
“I think over time his mind’s going to settle and he’ll sort out his emotions and figure things out, like people do,” Zahabi said. “But I can’t answer for him. That’s his answer, that’s him to make that call, I have no idea. I’m waiting as well.”
As for the rumors of an unplanned pregnancy and a pending lawsuit that have been circulating, Zahabi declined to comment, but said “you know what? A lawsuit to Georges, I don’t think he’d care.”
Now it seems the only person who can truly clear the air is St. Pierre himself.
