Fedor’s ‘surprise’ opponent officially announced

By Russell Ess - December 17, 2015

Two weeks out from the RIZIN New Year’s Eve card, the promotion finally announced the opponent for Fedor Emelianenko. The previous talk of Fedor facing Jaideep Singh (1-0 MMA) fizzled out after initial reports, but it was announced that Singh is, in fact, Fedor’s opponent.

RIZIN announced the match late Thursday at a news conference.

From MMA Junkie:

The 6-foot-6 Singh most recently fought in MMA in June 2013 at Super Fight League 19. He stopped Alireza Tavak with a first-round TKO at that event in India. The 28-year-old Singh has more than 50 kickboxing matches in his career in that sport, but in a fight against Emelianenko, it will be one MMA bout of experience against nearly 40 for “The Last Emperor.”

What are your thoughts on the RIZIN fight featuring on of MMA’s legends and a rather new name to the sport? Will you be tuning in to watch on New Year’s Eve?
