Fedor Set To Make A Major Announcement

By BJPENN.COM News - September 7, 2015

Fedor. It’s a name that keeps floating around. Of course, Fedor Emelianenko is planning his return to MMA, we all know that, but that’s about it.

We know nothing else. Ever sine he announced that he would be coming out of retirement it’s been a wait a see as far as who and where he would sign with.

Woud he return to Scott Coker and join Bellator MMA? We can mark that one off because Coker has said a few times now that he hasn’t talked to Fedor about signing and has no plans to.

What about the possibility of him staying in Russia and fighting at some promotion over there? Well that could happen but Fedor has stated before that he wants to fight the best and in a recent interview with h/t Sovsport.ru, he said he wants his first fight to be aboard.

“I want to spend my return fight abroad, in Japan or the United States. But later I will definitely schedule a fight in my homeland, Russia”

So, the UFC? That seems to be the popular guess. We even got a report from Combatpress.com that stated the Russian fighter has already signed with the UFC and that they have just not officially announced it.

Unfortunately the fighter himself says that is not the case and he’s still in negotiations at this point.

Here’s what he said at a recent fight event he attended in Russia, FightSpirit Championship 5

“I can not say exactly, but negotiations with the leading promoters are in place. In the next two or three weeks everything will become clear.”

Hmmmmm. Where oh where will he end up?
