UFC light heavyweight contender Phil Davis joined BJPENN.com radio this week to talk about his upcoming fight with Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson at UFC 172 this Saturday. Over the course of the interview Davis talked about his feud with current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Davis had the following to say about the 205 pound kingpin:

“You know what I’ll tell you what it is I don’t like about Jon jones. I do like Jon jones actually. I just think that he has a problem fighting people. Particularly me, my teammate Alexander Gustafsson. At this point I think he would be willing to trade his UFC gold to maybe be a paperback writer. I think that’s the career that’s best for him at this point. I think he’s lost it, I think he’s lost his edge and listen that’s fine. Hand in your boxing gloves for a keyboard and be a paperback writer. There’s a lot of honor and respect in that. But this fight game this is not for you anymore Jon Jones!”

When asked if he thought Glover Teixeira was a legitimate threat to Jones’ title Davis replied:

“Im not sure. I give Glover a fair chance. He definitely has what it takes theoretically what it takes to beat him I’m just not sure it will happen. But hey dudes tough, 20 fight win streak the man has a lot of confidence. So you know I mean, hey he very well could beat him.”

Certainly some strong words for the champion on the heels of a hijacked press conference phone call earlier today in which Davis and Jones exchanged words.
