Richman talked about his personal life outside of Bellator with the guys who asked him if his family was supportive of his choice to become a professional MMA fighter.
“When I first started this sport I think they didn’t take me seriously, I just got out the marine core and into the MMA, and I was like I want to be a fighter, and it was kind’ve like ah ha ha, yeah, no you don’t. Then once they saw me do it and train and saw me fight, then they realized I was serious and they’ve been extremely supportive.” Said Richman
The fact that Richman is a former Marine show’s he is very disciplined and has a ton of courage. How much of what he learned as a Marine plays into his MMA career is what he talked about next.
“The hard work, the discipline, the obedience to orders, like with my trainers and my coach in the practice room, that type of mentality you know following that leadership. Also just training hard and never giving up.” Said Richman
Also training with some great fighters like Pat Berry and on occasion Sean Sherk he says has played a great roll in his success so far in his career.
“You know when you have such high level training partners, not only that but a lot of up and coming prospects, it’s a great atmosphere you know. When your training with tough, good dudes it just makes you better.” Said Richman
It’s not only the training but the fact that he feels like everyone he trains with is formed a deeper bond then just training partners and are people he can talk to and hang out with after training.
“You know building relationships outside of the training camp is extremely important. My girlfriend Amanda and I hang out with Rose and Pat outside of training, were good friends. We go out on the town, have dinner hang out you know. It’s good to have relationships outside of just going to work and training and then all right see you guys later. Not only Pat I feel I have a relationship with all my training partners.” Said Richman
